Jock Hamilton, Founder

Jock Hamilton founded United Chemical in 1983 after decades of experience as a Pool Professional in Southern California. His experiences led him to the conclusion that there was something wrong with the way water chemistry was taught, specifically the Langelier Index. He began to research a radical new approach to pool water balancing based on personal observations of pools as well as water chemistry principles. Thus was born the Hamilton Index- the first index designed specifically for pools. This simple and reliable approach to pool care has for over 30 years kept pools problem free. Soon followed products built upon his research that would become known as the best and most reliable chemicals in the industry.

Most of those who knew Jock remember him as a dynamic and relentless educator. Many would spend hours on the phone with him as he would talk them step through step through their problems, all the while educating them on how pool chemistry works. He was never too busy to help you solve your problem. United Chemical continues his legacy of customer education and customer service today.
