What is Cal Treat?
Cal Treat is a revolutionary chemical that uses your existing filtration system to filter out Calcium Hardness. Over a week, calcium is collected in the filteration system. Simply back wash the filter to remove the calcium.

Why do I need Cal Treat?
The higher your calcium hardness, the more likely your pool will form scale. The ideal calcium hardness range is around 200-300ppm. In the past, the only solution to lowering calcium hardness is draining and then refilling the pool. However, many water sources contain high calcium hardness. Cal Treat saves time and money by removing calcium from the water itself.

Does Pool Stain Treat remove metals from the water?
Some metals will be removed from the water but no product is effective in eliminating all metals from the water. Many of our calls are complaints about competitor's products that didn't work. Since metals come from dust, rain, fertilizers, city and well water, other chemicals, it's ridiculous to believe that you don't have metals in your pool. United's position is that you always treat for metals and that will protect you from a bad surprise. It's like wearing your seat belt always when you drive.

How effective is Cal Treat?
Cal Treat is the only effective calcium hardness reducer of it's kind. You can expect your calcium hardness to drop from 200 to 400ppm. Results will vary from pool to pool.

What can I expect from using Cal Treat?
After adding the product, your filtration will begin to remove calcium hardness from the pool. Over a week period, the calcium will collect in the filter, where it can then be backwashed out. In some cases, Cal Treat may remove scale buildup BEFORE removing hardness from the water. In these cases, we recommend doing multiple treatments.

Is Cal Treat toxic?
No! When diluted in the pool water, Cal Treat is extremely non-toxic, safe for pets and children.

Do I run the pump when I add Cal Treat?
Cal Treat relies on your filtration system to remove the calcium hardness. You can leave the filtration cycle on it's normal schedule while the process is working. Make sure to monitor the filter pressure. The entire process takes approx. one week.

Will Cal Treat affect my pool chemistry?
Yes. It will lower your calcium hardness which will affect the overall balancing to the pool. However, it will not affect your pH.

Do I have to drop my chlorine or bromine residual before using it?
No. Don't shock the pool and up to 3ppm of oxidizer is OK.

What is the #1 cause of High Calcium Hardness and Scale?
The most common source of calcium hardness is fill water. Certain sources have high calcium content. Some commonly used pool chemicals also contain calcium. Also, calcium can be introduced from wind, dirt, and other environmental factors. The more calcium, the more likely white deposits - scale - will form. This can usually be prevented by lowering the Alkalinity.

My dealer says that I have to hold my chlorine / bromine residual above 3 ppm. Is this true?
That was before No Mor Problems® was around. United has made high residuals a thing of the past. As we said before, algae is easy for United. We've eliminated shocking, also. Remember these are the #1 causes of staining. With us, a 1 ppm residual is plenty, even in Florida.

Is Cal Treat ok for my pool surface?
Yes. We are used on all pool/spa surfaces. We haven't found a surface that we can't be used on. Paint and color (marcite) are unique and be sure to follow the instructions.
